SOFTWARE UPGRADE INSTRUCTIONS
AVR 270 + AVR 370
March 2014
Harman Kardon is pleased to offer this product upgrade, which improves the performance
of your AVR 270/370.
This software upgrade, version 617 improves the following:
Remote application connectivity between app and AVR
Important Note
This software is specially designed for use with the Harman Kardon AVR 270/370 receivers.
Use with any other model or brand may cause damage to the product. DO NOT USE THIS
SOFTWARE WITH ANY OTHER PRODUCTS.
Installation Instructions
PLEASE READ THESE INSTRUCTIONS CAREFULLY BEFORE PROCEEDING.
Upgrading your receiver is easy, but for the upgrade to work properly, it is important to
carefully follow the instructions below. The upgrade will take about 10 minutes, and once it
begins you must complete the entire process in one session. Please allow sufficient time to
complete all the steps. The AVR 270/370 must be connected to a TV screen to show the
menu system (OSD). You need a USB stick of min. 20MB.
Installing the new software will erase all information in your AVR’s system memory, which
means that any configuration settings or tuner presets that you have entered will be lost. To
make it easier to reestablish the settings after completing the upgrade, the upgrade
download includes a worksheet that you can print and use to write down your current
system configurations in the provided spaces.
1. The upgrade file package contains three items:
A folder called “USB Upgrade files”
This instruction sheet, “HK AVR 270/370 Upgrade Instructions”.
AVR Settings Sheets for noting the settings of your AVR for later re‐entering.
2. Place the file “AVR370_270_MP_20140305.fw” from the folder “USB Upgrade files” on
a USB memory stick. Do not copy the entire folder, but the separate file in it. No other
files should be on the USB stick.
3. Insert the USB memory stick into the receiver’s front‐panel USB port. If AVR receiver is
not ON, turn it on now.
4. Press the AVR button on the AVR remote control. The menu system (OSD) is shown on
the TV screen.

5. Go to System and click on it, then scroll down to Upgrade Software. Now you can read
information about the current software version. If you have the latest Software version:
S9267.617.0 already, you can press the AVR button on the remote control to cancel and
exit.
6. If you need to upgrade, click OK on Upgrade Software. Click OK on Continue to go on
with the upgrade. Please note that the update process is not shown on the TV screen,
but only on the front panel display of the AVR.
7. The front panel display now shows DSP1 UPDATE, DSP2 UPDATE, OSD UPDATE, MCU
UPDATE etc. It also switches off and on again.
8. Finally, the receiver finishes in ON status, and the front panel display shows Upgrade
success. Now the menu on the TV screen shows “System upgrade successful”. To
continue, press OK on the AVR remote control. Receiver is now in FM radio mode, with
all preset stations deleted.
9. Congratulations, your receiver is now upgraded to the latest software version.
10. Before using your receiver, you may want to re‐enter the input and speaker
configuration settings and tuner presets that you copied to the supplied settings
worksheet.
