TrIDNet is an utility designed to identify file types from their binary
signatures. While there are similar utilities with hard coded rules,
TriID has no such rules. Instead, it is extensible and can be trained
to recognize new formats in a fast and automatic way.
TrIDNet uses an XML-based database of definitions which describe
recurring patterns for supported file types.
You can help creating new definitions!
Just run the TrIDScan module against a number of files of a given type.
The program will do the rest.
N.B. You need to download the TrID/32 package (witch contains over 1.600
filetypes defs) to use this tool.

TrIDNet è un utility per l'identificazione di binary files.
Rispetto ad altre utilities simili, in grado di riconoscere ad esempio
con che compilatore è stato prodotto un eseguibile, non ha nessuna
regola hard-coded, ma è invece estensibile ed adattabile in modo molto
pratico e, soprattutto, " automatico " .
TrIDNet infatti si basa solamente su un data base di definizioni in formato
XML, che descrivono patterns ricorrenti specifici per ogni tipo di file
riconosciuto.
Il modulo TrIDScan può essere utilizzato per generare nuove definizioni,
in modo molto semplice, a partire da un certo numero di files di un dato
tipo.
N.B. E' necessario scaricare il pacchetto di TrID/32 (che contiene oltre
1.600 definizioni per altrettanti tipi di files) per utilizzare TrIDNet.
