SERVICE BULLETIN
NO: 12032901
Revised Bulletin: See Important Notes
Models: TX-SR309(M2); HT-R390(M2); TX-NR609; HT-S3400; TX-NR709; TX-NR809; TX-NR1009;
TX-NR5009; HT-RC360; HT-S7409; HT-S8409; DTR-20.3; DTR-30.3; DTR-40.3; TX-8255; TX-8050
Symptom/Cause: Sudden shut down and/or static noise from speakers
a) DC offset Voltage occurs from speaker output, as a result, POP noise arises.
b) White noise (irrespective of volume level)
c) Sometimes protect function works (The unit goes in to Standby mode.)
Solution:
Important Note#1:
The units which are modified have label “S” affixed after serial # on the rear of unit. No need to
modify those units, which have label “S” after serial#.
Before doing the modification, check following:
1. Check if the unit falls within the serial# range provided on Onkyo/Integra website ( links
provided on the last page of this bulletin), then check whether label “S” is affixed after serial# in
the rear of unit.
2. If “S” label is absent, then check whether transistors KTC3200 are mounted on driver board. If
transistors KTC3200 are mounted, then the unit needs modification.
Important Note #2:
Following modification must be done (Mandatory) on all units, which fall within above
mentioned limitations, irrespective of symptom in the unit.
Transistor (KTC3200) used in driver circuit is causing the problem. If KTC3200 is used, then replace with
any one of following transistors. Change all transistors used in all channels. See pictures below for
HTR390 M2/TXSR309M2 , as an example. If whole board is changed then idling adjustment is necessary.
